yellow is the new black

Oscar de la Renta 2012 Spring
Never a big fan of the colour yellow but LOVE the new de la Renta dress! Love the volumn of the dress and love how the black lace stands out from the yellow. Oh and the frizzy hair is back? Can't wait til spring!

We all want to be a man at some points

I have been obsessed with mannish shoes lately. Used to find them ugly to be honest, I had been a girly girl when it comes to fashion. But then my stylist gave me a short bob and with it comes my sudden crave for less feminine styles. And since I don’t have model legs to wear brogues, I have resorted to heeled loafers. Alexander Wang’s autumn runway loafers are super cute, but I just don’t know what to wear with the metallic mirror colours.

Anyway got these cheap substitutes (no they look nothing like the Alexander Wangs, I just want heeled loafers in general) and they are oh-so-comfy. Definitely not going to be my only pair for this coming autumn.
Patent loafers with front platforms, Staccato
One sad thing about being Asian AND lives in Asia, is that the weather is always stopping you from being fashion forward. Heeled loafers are already everywhere in Europe but it’s still a bit too hot to wear them in Hong Kong - they just don’t go along with my summer wardrobe. Can it not be so hot?

follow your heart

1:35 am at home after a good night with my adorable colleagues. Ballet practice.

Sometimes we focus on life so much we forget what made us happy. I was a dancer when I was at school (not that i was very competent but I did spent a lot of time on dancing) but somehow I don't remember how happy I was to dance anymore. Life is more about work and drink after work and maybe simply rest, and I don't recall how I spent my days anymore. And tonight I felt like dancing again.

PS> Ballerina shoes. I am always obsessed with ballerina-everything. Tod's Ballerina collections from two months ago are haunting me like no others. Am getting them tomorrow and will let you know how much fun I have wtih them. Ciao for now!

Flesh is weak

For some reason I keep getting sick in Hong Kong.

I used to be a strong girl and I didn't really get sick. Yet ever since I settled in Asia eight months ago I have been paying constant visits to my doctor. I blame it on the air pollution, and very possibly my busy lifestyle. I enjoy working (I do!),  I want to be a productive person but the fact that I am working in a city where overtime is part of the culture, is rather upsetting if not annoying. Anyway what I want to say is, it is very important for me to keep my work-life balance and I insist on meeting my friends and loved ones whenever I have time. And I overload myself constantly and my body is rejecting my lifestyle.

So many things in life we want to achieve, so many thing we want to explore, but our body is so relentlessly acting as a barrier.

PS> I realise it's been a while since I last wrote something here. And yes I realise the blog is becoming an occasional moaning place of a teenage mind. I promise I'll do something about it. I just need some time and passion and inspiration and I'll be my happy fashionista self again. But first I have to get my health back.....

How much do we disguise?

This is half of the foundations I am using this year.

For those of you who know me, I have bad skin condition. Sensitive and dry and a lot of acne scars. Foundation is what I cannot live without. Layers and layers we cover up the imperfections on our faces, creating the correct skin tone and the flawless complexion.

But how does the face beneath the paints look? How much of ourselves are we hiding from people around us? Are we just covering the freckles on our cheeks or are we concealing more?

Ok enough random fuss. What I was trying to say is, there’s so many different types of foundation available in the market and it is very important to choose the one/ones that are right for you. Some friends have been asking me for suggestions on foundation brands and seriously, I really cannot comment – the slightest difference in skin condition can make a big impact on the results of one compact. So go and try them on! I would say a bottle of liquid foundation and a compact and a can of loose powder would be enough for everyone, but then again you may need your good-skin-day set and your dry-skin-day combinations. Have fun choosing your next skin!
